The Project Development Objectives are to increase the use of irrigation and commercialization among producers and agribusiness firms in supported value chains, and to increase access to agricultural finance. The Project is financed by the International Development Association (IDA) with Loan and Grant/World Bank and GoR. The project had an initial budget of USD 300 million (Loan: USD 225 million and Grant: USD 75 Million), but it now remains with USD 224 million after the repurposing. The project is structured into four main components: Value Chain and Infrastructure Development: includes irrigation rehabilitation, land husbandry, and support for innovation and agri-business development, Agricultural Finance and Insurance: focused on scaling agricultural finance and strengthening agricultural insurance, Project Management: providing resources for efficient project execution, Contingency Emergency Response: allocates uncommitted funds for use in eligible emergencies. |

Muvumba Multipurpose Dam |
The program aims to enhance water, energy, food, and nutrition security by harnessing water resources for irrigation, domestic use, livestock, and hydropower while ensuring sustainability. The project includes a 55M m³ dam, 10,000 ha of irrigation, 50,000 m³/day water supply, and a 1MW hydropower plant. It has three components: dam construction, preparatory studies, and program management. |

Export Targeted Modern Irrigation Project |
The Irrigation and Watershed Development Project in Mpanga and Mahama Sectors are the initiatives in Kirehe District, Eastern Province, Rwanda, funded through an agreement signed between the Government of Rwanda (GoR) and Exim Bank of India under the ETI project. Given the region’s vulnerability to droughts, the project aims to enhance climate resilience by implementing sustainable irrigation systems and watershed management strategies.
